kingdom protista
1. What is the standard or standards? How does this assignment relate to the standard?
2. What are the steps you took to complete and do well on this assignment?
The first step I took was to know and copy down the notes about the different types of protista. I cut the papers or fold it in a way it would fit my poster. I colored it, trying to be creative and make it look more lively. I drew pictures of the plant/animal/fungus like protist to give a visual aid in what I was writing about.
3. This assignment demonstrates the following strengths...
This assignment demonstrates that I can do my assignments on time and do it well. It also shows that I understand what a protist is. The following strengths are that I can produce my own visual about protist and give information on it.
4. I could have improved my work on this assignment by...
I think I could have improved my assignment by,
I don't know, maybe dive the posters a dark outline or give more color into it, making it look more real. I think maybe I could have written neater (which is trouble for me) so it was more legible.
5. How will you apply the skills you learned from this assignment in either the real world when you are an adult or in other classes while you are still a student?
I think I will use this in the future because, well, we are probably review this and if we do, this would probably come in handy. I think I can also use this with my little sister so she can learn more quickly and efficiently when she becomes a 7th grader.

Kingdom Protista
First of all, what is a protist? Well, a protest can be a singular or muticelled organism. They are also eukaryotic which means they have a nucleus. They live in different types of places but usually moist places, like water and soil. There are also three categories. They are the plant/animal/ and fungus like protist. In the following paragraphs I will tell you more about them.
The first types of protista are called algae or plant like protist. They make their own food and can be single or muticelled. Plants like protists are put into 6 different phyla or groups. The different groups are: euglenoids, diatoms, flagellates, green algae, red algae, and brown algae. First of all euglenoids have tail whips called flagellates and have an eyespot so they can see. They can either eat their own food or make their own food. Diatoms make their own food and are a golden brown color. They also store food in oil. Dino flagellates are also known as “fire algae” they live in salt or fresh water.(Although they are known to cause health problems) green algae give us most of our oxygen and lives in moist places, such as water and inside trees. Red algae are red and make different things in our household such as toothpaste and pudding. They also have a limited light source and live in the deep ocean water. Brown algae are the largest. They are actually giant kelp and live in ocean water. All in all, plants like protist are different to the other protist because they make their own food, and it is similar to the other protist because they all live moist places.
Animal like protist are protozoan. And have animal like characteristics. They are one celled and have their own special digestive systems. Animal like protista are categorized into 4 different phyla. Rhizopods, flagellates, sporozoans, and ciliates. Rhizopods are found in fresh and salt water and they also have skeleton made of calcium. Flagellates use whip like tails to move around. They also live in fresh water and also can be parasite. Sporozoans have no way of moving and they drink blood. Ciliates moves using cilia, thread like extensions. They are the most complex. They have two nuclei: macro and micro. Animal like protista are different then the other two protista because animal like protista have special vacuoles for digesting and are similar to the other two because they live in moist, dark places
Finally, there are fungus like protista, which are actually decomposers. They feed on dead plants and animals. They can be brightly colored and they only have 2 different types of phyla. Slime molds and water mold. Slime molds are brightly colored and reproduce by spores. They live on dying logs and cool shady woods. They also reproduce by spores. They form stalks when the weather is bad and create the spores. Water molds are fuzzy. They also grow in a whitish color. It creates masses of thread and masses itself over an animal or plant and digests it. It lives in water or moist places and can be a parasite. They also cause diseases to leaves. Fungus like protista are different then the other two protista, plant and animal, because they are the types of protista that get energy by breaking down organisms. It is similar to the other protista because they all have nucleus and are eukaryotic.
Going through what I have written, protista is a single or muticelled organism and have nucleus which means they are eukaryotic. They all live in moist dark places and don’t have bones or shells. It is important to learn about protista because in the future we will be learning about the human and its body system and we need to know the basics of organisms before we can learn about the body systems. We need to learn the basics of these simple organisms so we don’t get too confused when learning about the body systems because the human body is very complex.
